JR. B Thunderhawks drop Season Opener

The Niagara Thunderhawks Jr. B Lacrosse Club lost their Home Opener 13-4 to the Oakville Buzz. The short staffed T-Hawks had 8 rookies in the starting line up with key injuries to veterans Josh Kilgour and Mike Branwood. Six starters from last years team will be returning to the line-up the next 2 weeks as University and Colleges wind up their year. Down 5-4 midway through the 2nd period the T-Hawks looked to stay with the more seasoned Oakville Club. A couple of power play goals and the Niagara team could not recover. James Rickard had 2 goals for the T-Hawks with singles going to Marcus Lagerstrom and Lloyd Chrysler. Tom Owen added 2 assists and Bryson Filipetti had one. With an announced crowd of 178, Thunderhawk President/GM Al Janzen was happy with the turn-out. "Lacrosse is one of the most exciting sports to watch live, and the MCU Virgil Arena is a great venue to watch it in. It is encouraging to see the Community support the team." The club travels to Owen Sound this Saturday and is back at Home Sunday April 26th at 7pm against Six Nations. Come on out to the pregame barbecue -“best hamburgers in town”.
